The Lovesong series came out of one of the most tender passages of my life. My son had just moved into his first apartment in the city and I felt the distance stretch in a new way. Before I picked up a brush I had done a deep somatic release, and what poured out was everything I had been holding. The love. The grief. The letting go. I cried throughout the making of every painting in this series.

Lovesong VII is a departure within the series. As the painting developed, the marks settled and the greens and golds found their place. Raw, simple and beautiful.
