The soft blue in this painting is so comforting. I built up layer after layer of it using Italian trowels, the same tools a plasterer uses, which gives the surface a depth you can almost feel.

The darker marks are there for contrast, variations of detail that pull you in closer. And the closer you look, the more details you find...tiny bits of bright blue and pink hidden in the layers and subtle shifts in texture across the surface. This is a painting that reveals itself slowly. The longer you stay with it, the more it gives you.
