There’s something about moonlight on water that’s hard to look away from. This painting came out of that feeling.

I was pushing myself at the time, moving between layering and wiping paint and the longer horizontal strokes that would eventually lead to other work. The warm glow in the upper portion felt right for the light.

The deep blues have a lot underneath them. Many layers of color that give the darkness some richness. In the lower right you can see the water moving, light catching the current.
