SAILING
36" x 36"
Acrylic on Canvas
That deep dark blue pulled me in when I was making this. There’s something luxurious about it.
The sailboats are deliberately abstract, just enough to read as sails without being literal. The sky has its own abstract quality, almost like it could stand alone as a painting. That small strip of warm color on the horizon is a suggestion of land in the distance, nothing more.
I built this with layered colors, wiping away paint and working in heavy brushstrokes to get that depth in the water.
