A friend shared a photo of her daily view and I just had to paint that pink sky, the water and the cottages tucked into the hillside.

I wasn’t trying to recreate the photo. I loosened the cottages and the trees on purpose, just trying to capture the feeling of the place rather than document it. I was capturing the essence of what made the scene so beautiful without copying it exactly.

I worked with both brush and palette knife, which gave me the looseness I was after.
