HIGH TIDE MARSH

Every time I leave or return home I drive along the marsh. It changes with the tide and I never tire of it. This painting came from the beauty of the marsh.

At high tide the water rises and those small islands in the distance sit low against the sky. I wanted the sky to carry the same quiet weight as the water, soft and cloud-filled, so the whole painting would feel as serene as the marsh actually is.

I used my layering and wiping technique to capture the varying color within the marsh.
