HIGH TIDE MARSH

Every time I leave or return home I drive along the marsh. It changes with the tide and I never tire of it. This painting came from that.

At high tide the water rises and those small islands in the distance sit low against the sky. I wanted the sky to carry the same quiet weight as the water, soft and cloud-filled, so the whole painting would feel as serene as the marsh actually is.

I used my layering and wiping technique to capture the varying color within the marsh.
