Sometimes I wake up knowing I am going to give birth to a painting. This one announced it had to be made and I woke and immediately went to work.

I wanted to capture boats on the water but not literally. The sails are there but the scene is abstracted into color and movement. The reds and oranges buried in the blue represent the magical findings we discover under the water...always a treasure!

This is palette knife work, which suits the feeling behind it. The marks are passionate and direct. I build up layers, starting with the colors meant to show beneath and finishing with the ones that I want to predominate the painting.
