REGATTA
36" x 48" Acrylic on Canvas
Some paintings announce themselves. I woke up knowing this one had to be made.
I wanted to capture boats on the water but not literally. The sails are there but the scene is abstracted, pulled apart into color and movement. The reds and oranges buried in the blue were intentional, part of a palette I was building around energy and life.
This is palette knife work, which suits the feeling behind it. The marks are passionate and direct. I build up layers, starting with the colors meant to show beneath and finishing with the ones that dominate.
